The historic Garde Theatre meets Catboy, Owlette, and Gekko of PJ Masks fame as the heroic trio comes to New London to launch a national tour of a new musical production. PJ Masks Live! Time to Be a Hero is based on the wildly popular animated television series that airs daily on Disney Junior.
What could be more fun for the younger crowd than seeing these six-year-old heroes right there on the stage at our local Garde Arts Center? Opening night will be Sept. 19 at 6 p.m., and tickets are already on sale at the box office and online.
On stage, Catboy, Owlette, and Gekko will try to thwart the Baddies, also known as Romeo, Night Ninja, and Luna Girl. These villains have super-bad powers and only the PJ Masks can save the day! Together, the three heroes will solve mysteries and learn valuable lessons, too.
Garde executive director Steve Sigel says the production "is a rare opportunity to host the preparation of a new show on its way to Madison Square Garden and major venues throughout the country.” The production team will be in residence at the Garde for a week as they assemble, rehearse, and finalize the show for the national tour.
“We are pleased our facilities met the producer’s needs, and that New London could be the host city for the rehearsal and premiere,” says Sigel.
Over the past 30 years, the Garde has acquired a respected reputation, and this has been instrumental in the acquisition of this new production opportunity.
“We have a very good team of programmers right now,” says Sigel, “and they are always looking for opportunities just like this.”
While many possibilities might arise, having the right mix of space, facilities, stage size, and capabilities in a welcoming community are paramount to making a good match. These types of events usually happen in venues or locations that are specifically dedicated to the production, according to Sigel.
The upcoming PJ Masks production is unique in that the company has the opportunity to not only show it in a typical theater, but to also create it there and be part of the community.
With all the interesting things to do and see in the region, the production company should have a very enjoyable week.
Developed by Entertainment One Ltd. (LSE:ETO) and Round Room Presents, this new production is in good company. LSE:ET includes The Mark Gordon Company, Amblin Partners with Steven Spielberg, DreamWorks Studios, Participant Media, and Reliance Entertainment, among many others. More than 100,000 hours of film and television content, and approximately 40,000 music tracks are included in the company’s rights library. Round Room Presents specializes in the promotion of live arena shows, concert tours, theatrical performances, and touring exhibitions.
